GREEN BAY -- Phoenix fans got their first live look at the 2019-20 edition of the Green Bay men's basketball team, watching the second-annual Green vs. White scrimmage on Saturday at the Kress Center. The squad split up into two teams, playing three 12 minute quarters and swapping uniforms between each period. The two teams combined to hit 18 3-pointers and combined to shoot over 50 percent in the scrimmage.
"It was great for our guys to get out in front of people with the bright lights on," said head coach
Linc Darner. "I was happy with what we did today and we are looking forward to taking on a team in a different jersey here soon. We have a tough non-league schedule to get ready for."
A total of 13 players suited up for GB, with
ShanQuan Hemphill and
Josh Jefferson the only two to sit due to injury. Season ticket holders and community members alike watched the new additions of
Amari Davis,
Lucas Stieber,
Jiovanni Miles and
Japannah Kellogg III for the first time. Preseason All-League honoree
JayQuan McCloud impressed as expected, enjoying a stretch of made baskets.
Ten players scored 10 points or more throughout the three periods.Â
"We want to thank everyone for coming out today and we hope they all left feeling excited for the upcoming season," said Darner.
