GREEN BAY, Wis. (GreenBayPhoenix.com) – With both voted as the preseason favorites in the Horizon League, the Green Bay men’s and women’s basketball teams will appear on television at least 20 combined times during the 2013-14 seasons. The Phoenix men’s basketball team will make appearances on Time Warner Cable Sports Channel, ESPN2, ESPNU and CBS Sports Network while the women’s squad will have five contests televised by Time Warner Cable Sports Channel.
Head coach Brian Wardle’s squad, after opening the season on Saturday, Nov. 9 at the Kress Events Center at 1 p.m. against Northern Michigan, will welcome Wisconsin to the Resch Center on Saturday, Nov. 16 at 7 p.m. The contest against the Badgers will be one of at least six games televised live by Time Warner Cable SportsChannel.
Time Warner Cable SportsChannel will also televise the men’s home contests against Tennesse Tech (Dec. 17), Cleveland State (Jan. 2) and Milwaukee (Feb. 8) and road games at Milwaukee (Jan. 12) and Youngstown State (Feb. 13). Additionally, contests at Cleveland State (Feb. 15) and Detroit (March 1) are wildcard games and could be chosen as a Horizon League Game of the Week and therefore televised by Time Warner Cable SportsChannel.
Traveling to the Great Alaska Shootout in late November, the Phoenix will open the tournament on Thanksgiving Night against Pepperdine at 8:30 p.m. CT. The game will be nationally televised live by CBS Sports Network. Green Bay’s final two games in the tournament could also be televised live by CBS Sports Network.
When Green Bay returns home from Alaska, the Phoenix will host Virginia on Saturday, Dec. 7. The game against Tony Bennett’s Cavaliers will be televised by ESPNU. Green Bay’s two contests with Wright State will both be on the ESPN family of networks, with the Jan. 17 game at Wright State on ESPNU at 6 p.m. CT and the home game on Feb. 1 against the Raiders will be on ESPN2. The Phoenix will also appear on ESPNU on Feb. 27 when it travels to Rochester, Mich., for a game at Oakland.
On the women’s side, head coach Kevin Borseth’s team will appear on Time Warner Cable SportsChannel five times. The first TV game for the Phoenix women will be on Dec. 18 when Green Bay hosts Big Ten foe Purdue at the Kress Events Center. The Green Bay’s Horizon League opener on Jan. 8 against UIC will also be televised along with home games against Milwaukee (Jan. 11) and Valparaiso (Feb. 3) and an away contest at Milwaukee (Feb. 15).
