GREEN BAY, Wis. (GreenBayPhoenix.com) – The Green Bay women’s soccer team will make the trip down I-43 on Wednesday to take on the Milwaukee Panthers at Engelmann Stadium at 5:30 p.m.
The game is the first in a women’s and men’s doubleheader for the Panthers, with the men set to take on Wisconsin at 8 p.m.
The game will be broadcast for tape delay on Time Warner Cable SportsChannel 1332HD/32, but will be available live online on the Horizon League Network. Matt Menzl and Matt Schroeder will have the call for the match. The game will be broadcast on Thursday at 7 p.m., Friday at 10 a.m. and Saturday at 1 a.m.
Wednesday’s match will be the 30th all-time meeting between the two squads. Milwaukee leads the all-time series 22-6-1 and has been victorious in the last 10 meetings dating back to 2004. Five of those matches have been decided by one goal, including a 2-1 finish last season in Green Bay.
Green Bay is 4-6-4 overall and 1-3-0 in the Horizon League. After winning its conference opener against Oakland, the Phoenix has dropped one-goal decisions to Youngstown State (1-2) and Detroit (0-1) on the road and a 1-0 finish against Cleveland State on Saturday.
Despite the losing record, the Phoenix has played in several close contests, with six of their 14 matches settled by a goal and another four ending in draws. The result has been Green Bay narrowly being outscored by its opponents this season, 15-11.
Heidi Hartmann (Plymouth, Minn.) and Hekla Palmadottir (Akranes, Iceland) continue to lead the team with seven points apiece (2g, 3a) while Hannah Kernen (Belleville, Wis.) has a team-best three goals this season. Hartmann has registered 49 shots this season, the second-best total in the conference.
In net, Nastacia Behle (St. Paul, Mo.) has appeared in 12 of the 14 matches this season, posting a 1.05 goals-against average and a .766 save percentage with three shutouts. Her goals-against average is the third best in the conference.
SCOUTING THE PANTHERS: Roster Schedule Stats
The Panthers are 5-8-1 overall and are tied for the top spot in the Horizon league with a record of 3-1-0. Milwaukee has wins against Valparaiso, Detroit and Cleveland State, but most recently fell in a 1-0 game at Wright State on Saturday.
This season Milwaukee has been outscored by its opponents, 34-21, and has also been outshot, 187-159 including 92-65 on goal.
Krissy Dorre leads the team and is tied for the conference lead with eight goals while standing atop the team and second in the conference with 18 total points. Kelsey Holbert is tops on the team and tied for third in the Horizon league with four assists.
Paige Lincicum has been the mainstay in net, playing all 14 matches and recording a 2.25 goals-against average with a .636 save percentage.
