GREEN BAY, Wis. (GreenBayPhoenix.com) – The Green Bay men’s soccer team will take to the field one last time in non-conference action on Tuesday, facing UNC-Asheville in North Carolina at 2 p.m.
It will be the first-ever meeting between the two squads and a return to North Carolina for head coach Dan Popik, who started his collegiate playing career at the University of North Carolina and also served as an associate head coach at N.C. State.
Green Bay enters the weekend with an overall record of 4-2-2, and hasn’t taken to the field since a 2-1 win over NJIT on September 22. The Phoenix is led by Sam Krenzien (Wauwatosa, Wis.), who continues to lead the team and conference in goals (7), assists (4) and points (18).
Kyle Ihn (Wales, Wis.) has played the majority of time in net for the Phoenix, posting a 2.11 goals-against average and a .639 save percentage in 553:57.
SCOUTING THE BULLDOGS: Roster Schedule Stats
The Bulldogs enter Tuesday’s match with a record of 3-5-0. The team has dropped its last two matches, including its Big South opener to Liberty, 1-0, on Saturday. This season UNC-Asheville has been doubled up by its competition in several categories, including goals scored (17-8) and shots (138-65).
Kenny Lingerfelt leads the team with five points on two goals and one assist, while Quentin Reynolds and Emil Gonsalvez have two goals apiece. Dan Jackson has started seven of the eight matches in goal, recording a 2.29 goals-against average and a .714 save percentage.
