GREEN BAY, Wis. (GreenBayPhoenix.com) – First-year Green Bay volleyball head coach Michaela Franklin is featured as one of the Green Bay community’s “20 Women to Know” in the August 2013 edition of YOU Magazine. The monthly women’s publication highlights 20 local women annually who are categorized as fearless, inspirational and passionate in their respective fields.
“I am truly honored to be featured in YOU Magazine,” Franklin said. “I enjoyed getting to know some amazing people throughout the process and look forward to continuing to develop relationships with the Green Bay community. Thank you to YOU Magazine and all the people who worked so hard to put this feature together.”
Below is Franklin’s profile in this month’s YOU Magazine, which is available now at local newsstands.
A proud Midwest girl, Michaela Franklin, 30, has made her mark on and off the volleyball court – she was once a part of the Big 12 championship team at Kansas State University. While she shapes the athletic careers of women each season, she also finds immense joy in watching her players become successful people and students.
“I think I wanted to coach because, after my mom and grandma, the next biggest influences in my life were my coaches,” remembers Franklin.
To ensure she’s a good example to the young women she molds, she says she relies upon the foundation on which she was raised.
“Things that my mom told me were you never burn a bridge, treat others the way you want to be treated and do the right thing.
“I also hate to lose more than I like to win, so that has always driven me to work harder and be successful,” she adds.
