GREEN BAY, Wis. (GreenBayPhoenix.com) – The Green Bay softball team has four players batting above .300 this season, but against Mother Nature this spring the Phoenix is 0-for-4. This weekend’s series against Wright State, which would have been the home opener for Green Bay, has been moved to Dayton, Ohio due to the weather.
Green Bay will battle the Raiders at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. central time on Saturday, and 11 a.m. central time on Sunday. The schedule change is the fourth for the Phoenix this season and the third in the last week after last weekend’s home series against Cleveland State was postponed and a doubleheader scheduled for today at Western Illinois was cancelled.
As of Apr. 10, the forecast for Dayton calls for mostly cloudy skies and a high of 49 on Saturday and a balmy 60 degrees and sunny on Sunday. In comparison, snow-covered Green Bay is predicted to have a 40-degree, mostly cloudy Saturday and a rainy Sunday with a high of just 42 degrees. Barring any changes, Saturday will be the first time the Phoenix has been able to play since a 9-1 thumping of UIC nine days ago.
Weather permitting, Green Bay will be back in action on Tuesday, April 16 in a doubleheader at Wisconsin, a team receiving votes in the ESPN.com/USA Softball Collegiate Top 25.
