GREEN BAY, Wis. (GreenBayPhoenix.com) - In recognition of the stellar play of two of the most successful players in Green Bay women's basketball history, seniors Adrian Ritchie (De Pere, Wis.) and Sarah Eichler (Grafton, Wis.) have received postseason honors, the Horizon League office announced Monday afternoon. Ritchie was named to the All-Horizon League First Team, while Eichler was awarded Second Team honors. Both players were also named to the All-Defensive Team.

Ritchie concluded the 2012-13 regular season averaging 13.6 points and 5.0 rebounds per game on 44.7 percent shooting. A complete stat-stuffer, Ritchie leads the Phoenix in scoring, rebounding, free throw percentage, blocks and steals. She's connected on 36.7 percent of her attempts from downtown, recording a team-best 58 triples this season. She's also second on the team with 3.9 assists per game and ranks first in the Horizon League and 12th nationally with a 2.4 assist-to-turnover ratio.

On November 30th against Indianapolis, Ritchie became the 30th member of the Green Bay women's basketball 1,000-point club with a three from the corner. With 1,285 career points, she needs 87 to move into the top-10 in program history for career points. With five more 3-point attempts, she'll have attempted more triples than any player in Green Bay women's basketball history. Ritchie ranks third on the career list for 3-pointers made with 183 and needs three steals to move into the top-10 in program history. After averaging 18.0 points and 6.5 rebounds with a 75 percent effort from behind the arc in wins against Loyola and at Milwaukee, she was named Horizon League Player of the Week on March 11.

Eichler has blossomed from a driving forward to an outside threat this season, connecting on a team-best 39.3 percent of her attempts from behind the arc. She was named the Horizon League Player of the Week on Nov. 26 after turning in a 26-point, five-rebound performance against Richmond in the 2012 Cancun Challenge finale. In that effort, she connected on a career-high 5-6 attempts from long range. She averages 3.3 assists per game, including an impressive 6.1 during the last seven games.

In a Valentine's Day win over Cleveland State, Eichler finished with 14 points on 7-11 shooting, becoming the program's 31st member of the 1,000-point club in the process. With four more appearances, Eichler will have played in 132 games-more than any other player in Green Bay women's basketball history.

Both Ritchie and Eichler have caused nightmares for opposing teams with their lock-down defense. Ritchie finished second in the Horizon League in steals per game with 2.7, and set her career high with seven against Detroit on Jan. 8. She led the team in both blocks and rebounds, with 0.6 and 5.0 per game, respectively.

Eichler finished 12th in the Horizon League with 1.5 steals per game while adding 3.9 rebounds. On two occasions this season she had a career-high five steals and set a career high with eight boards at Youngstown State on Jan. 19. Eichler has long been known as Green Bay's source of toughness according to head coach Kevin Borseth.

Ritchie was a First Team selection in the 2012-13 Horizon League Preseason All-League list after earning Second Team honors last season, while Eichler was named to the Horizon League All-Newcomer team during her freshman season in 2009-10.

The two All-Horizon League selections and the rest of the Green Bay women's basketball team will open the 2013 Horizon League tournament on Wednesday at the Kress Center against the winner of the No. 8 vs. No. 9 play-in game. The Phoenix will host either No. 8 seed Valparaiso or ninth-seeded UIC.
