GREEN BAY, Wis.
(GreenBayPhoenix.com) - Green Bay
Director of Athletics Ken Bothof
announced changes to his administrative staff on Tuesday with the promotions of
Jeremy Cleven, Andrew Gavin and Adam Halfmann. Cleven has been elevated to the Director of Sports Medicine and
Performance, Gavin has been promoted to Assistant AD for Communications and
Video Services, and Halfmann has been named the Assistant AD for Marketing and
"It's a rewarding experience to be able to recognize
members of our staff who have achieved success in their positions and have
prepared themselves to take the next step," said Bothof. "I am confident
they will continue to work hard in their new responsibilities and look for new
and improved ways to support our coaches and student-athletes."
Cleven has served as the head athletic trainer with
Green Bay Athletics since 2005-06, overseeing the sports medicine coverage for
all of the athletics department's 16 Division I sports. He will now also
provide administrative oversight of the department's strength and conditioning
efforts. Cleven works directly on a daily basis with men's basketball, men's
and women's golf and men's and women's cross country.
A 2001 UW-Green Bay graduate with a bachelor's degree
in human biology, Cleven earned a master's degree in liberal studies with an
emphasis in sport management from Valparaiso in 2003. He served as a graduate
assistant in the sports medicine department at Valpo before working as an
athletic training fellow at Northwestern University from 2003-04.
"I'd like to thank Dan and Ken for the opportunity
progress my career with Green Bay Athletics," Cleven said. "I would like to
also thank the athletic training staff and our team physicians for supporting
me and Green Bay Sports Medicine. It's a great department with great
people, and I'm looking forward to the new challenges and opportunities ahead."
Gavin has worked as the Director of Athletics
Communications since August of 2010 and manages and oversees the athletics
communications office and media relations and video services efforts. He also
directs the maintenance and content on GreenBayPhoenix.com. During his time
with the Phoenix, Gavin has overseen the implementation of Inside Phoenix Basketball, a live weekly basketball coaches show,
and Phoenix Insider, a basketball
yearbook highlighting both basketball programs.
As part of his new role, Gavin will have oversight of
the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee and serve as the sport administrator for
select sport programs. He serves as the primary media relations contact for
men's basketball, men's and women's golf and women's soccer and serves as the
color radio analyst for men's basketball road games. Gavin also serves as the
liaison for athletics events televised at the local, regional or national
A 2006 graduate of Centre College in Danville, Ky.,
with a bachelor's degree in government and economics, Gavin has worked
previously in the communications offices at the University of South Carolina
Aiken and the University of Central Florida.
"Green Bay Athletics has provided such a valuable
opportunity to work with a Division I department alongside hard-working and
passionate coaches, student-athletes and staff, and I am grateful for the
chance to continue to grow professionally," Gavin said. "I thank Ken Bothof for
this opportunity and his tremendous support."
Halfmann has been employed in some capacity by the
athletics department since his days as an undergraduate student at UW-Green
Bay. Since graduating in May 2007 with a bachelor's degree in communications,
he has served as the Director of Marketing and Promotions. He worked as a
student assistant with Green Bay Phoenix Athletics from 2003-07 in games
management and marketing positions.
Halfmann oversees the department's marketing and
promotions as well as the strategic planning and buying of media and
advertising. He is responsible for various aspects of the department's
ticketing, including season tickets and packages, individual game sales, group
ticket sales and ticket promotions. Halfmann also manages the gameday
experience, including fulfillment of corporate sponsorship promotions through
Nelligan Sports Marketing and administrative oversight of the spirit quads.
