The men’s team raced its way to a 28th-place finish, while the women’s squad claimed a 29th-place finish in the season’s final meet hosted by Wisconsin.

The men covered a 10K course for the first time this season, while the women navigated a 6K route. It marked the fourth-straight year the Phoenix have traveled to Verona, Wis., for the NCAA Regional.

Mitchell’s cousin Eric was second for the Phoenix at 34:20.8, while junior Austin Gokey crossed the line in third position at 35:01.8. Rounding out Green Bay’s top-five finishers were sophomores Erik Johnson (35:59.7) and Eduardo Navarro (36:18.6).

On the women’s side, senior Sarah Mauel finished strong in her last race as a Phoenix, as she paced Green Bay for the second-consecutive race finishing with a time of 23:24.4. Freshman Alexandra Kershner (24:57.5), senior Rachel Crites (25:42.1) and junior Breanna Suess (25:59.4) also registered times that factored into the Phoenix’s aggregate score.

Michigan took home the Regional Title on both the Women’s (69 points) and Men’s (67 points) sides, edging Notre Dame by 10 points and Michigan State by 21 points, respectively. With their finishes, the Fighting Irish and Spartans also secured automatic berths into the NCAA Championships, which will be held on Nov. 21 in Louisville, Ky.
