Bilitz, Hurst Pace Green Bay in Third Meet

WARRENVILLE, Ill. (GreenBayPhoenix.com) – The Green Bay cross country teams competed in their third meet of the 2015 slate Friday evening, traveling to Warrenville, Ill., for the College of DuPage Invitational. The men claimed third place out of 12 teams, while the women’s squad notched a second-place finish out of eight.
Mitchell Bilitz led the effort on the men’s side, claiming an individual third-place finish after covering the 8K course in a lifetime-best 25:12. The performance from Bilitz marked the second-straight meet where the sophomore was able to turn in a time below the 26-minute barrier.
On the women’s side, the Phoenix was led once again by sophomore Kimberly Hurst who was able to claim a top-five finish of her own, covering the 5K course in personal-record time of 18:30 and placing fourth overall. Joining Hurst in the top-10 was senior Sarah Mauel, who crossed the line in 18:54 for a ninth-place finish.
The COD Invitational title was claimed by Horizon League-rival UIC on both the men’s and women’s sides.
The Green Bay cross country teams will return to the course next Friday when the squads travel to South Bend, Ind., to compete in the Notre Dame Invitational.Men’s Team Results
