Mehryn Kraker Named to Academic All-League Team
GREEN BAY, Wis. (GreenBayPhoenix.com) – After an outstanding year on the court, redshirt graduate Mehryn Kraker is also receiving recognition for her success in the classroom, as the guard was named to the Horizon League All-Academic team the on Thursday.
Kraker, who is pursuing her master’s degree in Applied Leadership in Teaching and Learning, currently boasts a 3.947 grade-point-average. She received her bachelor’s degree in education with an emphasis in middle childhood-early adolescence this past spring and began her graduate studies this fall.
Kraker recently received the Horizon League Player of the Year award, marking the first player to garner the league’s most prestigious accolade since Julie Wojta in 2012. The Phoenix also collected its 19th-straight regular-season conference championship this season.
This marks the second-straight season that the women’s basketball program has placed someone on the academic all-league team, with Jessica Lindstrom receiving the honor a season ago.
This is the first academic all-league honor of Kraker’s career. Joining her on the all-league team is Haleigh Ristovski (Detroit Mercy), Nicole Dodd (Oakland), Taylor Gleason (Oakland) and Steph Kostowicz (Milwaukee).
The Horizon League recognizes student-athletes with seasonal Academic All-League Teams in each of its 19 championship sports. To be eligible for Academic All-Horizon League consideration, a student-athlete must have a cumulative grade-point-average of 3.20 or higher (based on a 4.00 scale) and have completed at least one year at the member institution, having earned 24 semester-hour or 36 quarter-hour credits.
