GREEN BAY, Wis. (GreenBayPhoenix.com) – After four Phoenix seniors were recognized pre-match for more than 400 combined wins in their careers, it was those very seniors who propelled Green Bay to a bounce back 4-3 win over UIC on Sunday afternoon at Western Racquet & Fitness Club.

The Phoenix (9-6, 2-1 HL) found itself in an early hole after the Flames (8-8, 1-1 HL) picked up the doubles point with wins at No. 1 and No. 2, as the UIC duo of Chris Cole and Mitch Granger defeated Leo Gomez Islinger and Florian Kraenzler, 6-3, and then Carl Hedstrom and Nate Campanile took out Howard Scott and Joey Leto, 6-4.

The Phoenix seniors got the last laugh in singles; however, as Gomez Islinger won his fourth-straight match in straight sets over Cole at No. 2, 6-1, 6-1, and Leto followed suit less than two minutes later with a 6-4, 6-0 win over Campanile at No. 6.

Green Bay clinched the match victory after taking each of the next two points at No. 1 and No. 3, as Howard Scott outlasted Hedstrom in a tiebreak, 3-6, 6-2, 6-3, and Kraenzler downed Granger, 6-4, 6-1. With his victory, Scott secured his 100th dual match win as a Phoenix, improving to 8-5 on the year and 2-2 in the top spot.

With the match already decided, freshman Charlie Ridout had a three-match winning streak snapped against Max Cedarkall, who won 4-6, 6-3, 6-3 at No. 5, while Joshua Schramm also lost in a heart-breaking super breaker to Marcelo Dib at No. 4, 4-6, 7-6 (7-5), 12-10.

The Phoenix will travel to Ohio next weekend to play Youngstown State (6-11, 2-1 HL) and Cleveland State (10-9, 1-2 HL) on Saturday and Sunday.
