Another Top-Five Finish for Kiela at Twin Oaks
SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (GreenBayPhoenix.com) – Green Bay senior Gene Kiela III (Plymouth, Wis.), battled 35 mile-per-hour wind gusts Tuesday and finished tied for fourth place at the Twin Oaks Intercollegiate, hosted by Missouri State.
Kiela finished in the top-five for the second consecutive tournament. The Phoenix senior placed in a tie for third at the Jackrabbit Invitational in Primm, Nev., earlier this month. Kiela held at least a share of the lead for part of the final round Tuesday, but he found himself in a field that saw only four golfers shoot under-par in the final round due to tough conditions in Springfield.
Fellow senior Joe Du Chateau (Fond du Lac, Wis.), bounced back from a second-round 78 to card a final-round 74, placing him in a tie for 22nd. Du Chateau birdied three holes in the final round to help keep him in the top 25. Green Bay finished in eighth place in the 11-team field.
The Phoenix will be back on the course April 4-5 when it travels to Dayton, Ohio to take part in the Wright State Invite.
