SHEBOYGAN, Wis. ( – For the third time in five fall tournaments, Green Bay senior Joe Du Chateau (Fond du Lac, Wis.), claimed individual gold on Tuesday at the Whistling Straits Intercollegiate.

Du Chateau shot back-to-back rounds of 72 in the first two rounds of play on Monday, good enough for a share of the top spot that was also occupied by teammate Derek Fiestadt (Kaukauna, Wis.). Du Chateau was one shot better than Towson’s Ryan Siegler on Tuesday, and that was the difference as the Green Bay senior came away with a one-shot victory.

Du Chateau claimed individual wins at the UNO Invitational and Coyote Classic in September. He also tied the program’s 18-hole record with a 65 during his victory at the UNO Invitational.

"I couldn't be more proud of the way the guys closed out the fall season with a top-two finish on a very difficult course and in very difficult conditions,” said Green Bay head coach Lee Reinke. “I am especially happy for, and proud of Joe for playing three rounds from 7,000-plus yards at four-over par, which is very impressive. I am also very happy for seniors Gene Kiela with a 74 in round three, and Derek Fiestadt, even-par through two rounds."

Seniors Fiestadt and Gene Kiela (Plymouth, Wis.), carded top-ten finishes of their own. Fiestadt finished in a tie for eighth, while Kiela shot an impressive final-round 74 in windy conditions to climb to seventh place. The three top-ten finishers pushed Green Bay to a second-place finish as a team, six shots back of the lead.

The Phoenix have wrapped up fall competition and will take the winter off before returning to action in March when it travels to Las Vegas, Nevada to face South Dakota State.
