– Green Bay men’s golfer Joe Du Chateau
(Fond du Lac, Wis.) sunk a 20-foot birdie putt to force a playoff in the final round at the Coyote Classic Tuesday. The Phoenix senior then drilled another birdie putt to claim his second consecutive tournament title.
Du Chateau held an 18-hole lead after the first round, only to see Joey Johnson from Missouri State overtake the top spot on the leaderboard after round two. Du Chateau began the final round two shots back of the lead, and battled Johnson all day before the two closed the last round with identical scores of four-over par.
On the first playoff hole, Du Chateau sunk his birdie putt, giving him his second tournament win in a row. He also won the UNO Invitational in Nebraska City, Neb. on Sept. 15.
The Phoenix finished in a tie for third in the eight-team field, three shots back of second place. Senior Gene Kiela
(Plymouth, Wis.) finished one spot out of the top-ten in a tie for 11th
place. Freshman Chapin Orr
(Dodgeville, Wis.) continued a solid start to his Green Bay career, finishing tied for 18th
and shooting consistent rounds of 77, 78, 79.
