Steen Leads Phoenix at Loyola Fall Invitational
FLOSSMOOR, Ill. (GreenBayPhoenix.com) – Green Bay junior Avery Steen (Luck, Wis.) finished one shot away from claiming her second consecutive top-ten finish on Tuesday at the Loyola Fall Invitational.
Steen claimed the best finish for the Phoenix, placing in a tie for 11th after a final-round score of 80. Steen recorded back-to-back rounds of 78 on Monday in the first day of competition at Flossmoor Country Club.
Senior Sammi Grunder (Pardeeville, Wis.) claimed a top-20 finish for Green Bay, moving up nine spots on the leaderboard to finish tied for 19th with a 77 in the final round Tuesday.
Fellow senior Steph Laude (Slinger, Wis.) was not far behind, finishing in a tie for 23rd. Laude bounced back from an opening round 84 to shoot 78, 82 in the final two rounds, respectively.
The Phoenix finished in 7th as a squad in the 10-team tournament.
Green Bay will take a week off from competition before competing in the Butler Fall Invitational at Highland Country Club in Indianapolis, Ind. on Oct. 5-6.
