RUMFORD, Maine (GreenBayPhoenix.com) - The Green Bay men's and women's Nordic ski teams wrapped up the U.S. Cross Country Championships on Sunday with the classical sprint races at historic Black Mountain in Rumford, Maine.

Eddie Gurney (Brookfield, Wis.) led the Phoenix in the men's 1.6K event, placing 73rd with a time of 4:01.80. Freshman Matt Nichols (Wausau, Wis.) was three spots back in 76th (4:02.00) and senior Matt Nistler (Bemidhi, Minn.) finished in 108th (4:13.18).

In the women's 1.4K classic, freshman Hanne Guthrie (Chanhassen, Minn.) crossed the line in 4:10.68, which was good enough for 70th.

Green Bay next heads to Duluth, Minn., for the second NCAA qualifier of the season - the Hilltop Invitational on Jan. 14-15.
