Jeff Cook and the Phoenix skiers are back in action this weekend at the NCAA Regionals.

Editor's Note: Throughout the 2010-11 school year, junior women's tennis player Morgan Weuve will introduce Phoenix fans to some of her peers and fellow student-athletes. The Green Bay native will conduct interviews with various student-athletes and share her findings with feature stories on GreenBayPhoenix.com.

GREEN BAY, Wis. (GreenBayPhoenix.com) - Junior men's Nordic skier Jeff Cook (Rhinelander, Wis.) is in the midst of completing his third season for the Green Bay Phoenix.

Cook started off his skiing career as a redshirt freshman at Northern Michigan, but then transferred to Green Bay as a sophomore with four years of eligibility remaining.

"When I came to Green Bay, the program was more of a skier-focused atmosphere with more one-on-one technique training and coaching," said Cook.

Cook had his best time of the season at the USAA Michigan Tech Super Tour in Houghton, Mich., where he placed 14th in the freestyle with a time of 44:25.4. Cook placed 32nd (classic) and 33rd (freestyle), respectively, at the CCSA Conference Championships over the weekend and looks forward to competing in the NCCA Central Region Championships on Feb. 18.

"Each year I have steadily improved and I am looking forward to using the next couple races to springboard into an elite Central skier," said Cook.

In addition to Cook's athletic accomplishments, he continues to excel academically. He has been on the academic honor roll numerous semesters and has received All-Academic recognition through the CCSA. He has maintained a grade-point average of 3.8 while pursuing a triple major in environmental policy and planning, public administration and political science.

Getting to know Jeff Cook...

On the trails:

I first started Nordic skiing when I was...five years old.

My favorite race is...the Birkie 50K.

If I had to choose between a skate or classic race, I would choose...skate. It's easier and faster.

My goal for myself this season is...to stay in the top 15 for skate and reach the top 20 for classic.

My goal for the men's team this season is...crack the top three at regionals.

Off the trails:

The music that I listen to the most is...alternative and 106.7 The Kruz.

The No. 1 played song on my iPod is...The General by Dispatch.

If I could learn to do anything, it would be...to play the guitar.

When I have free time, I...hang out with friends, watch movies and do some volunteer stuff through PEAC (Public Environmental Affairs Counsel).

I have visited...Italy for the 2006 Olympics. My brother skied in both the Team Sprint and Individual Sprint and placed 21st in the Individual Sprint.

The foods that I will not eat are...sloppy joes and pumpkin pie.

One thing that makes me laugh the hardest is...Justin Young's cooking.

My favorite sport to do besides skiing is...cross country running.

Favorite sport to watch is...football. Go Pack!

My favorite TV shows are...The Office and The Daily Show.

My favorite movies are...Anchorman and Ace Ventura: Pet Detective.

On my perfect day I would...sleep until noon, hang out with friends and watch the Packers win the Super Bowl.

My favorite Packer players are...Aaron Rodgers and Charles Woodson.

The people I most admire are...my parents, Butch Reimer and Donald Driver.
