ANN ARBOR, Mich. (GreenBayPhoenix.com) – A focused Green Bay men’s tennis team took the court on Saturday afternoon and took care of business in the Horizon League Championships, and the top-seeded Phoenix downed fourth-seeded Valparaiso (18-9) 4-0 at the University of Michigan Varsity Tennis Center.

With the victory, Green Bay (17-7) advances to Sunday afternoon’s championship match against No. 2 Cleveland State (15-7) at 2 p.m. CST. The match will be a rematch of the 2013 title match, which the Vikings won 4-3. This season, the Phoenix won 4-3 on April 12 at Cleveland State.

Green Bay took the doubles point with an 8-3 victory at No. 1 doubles and an 8-5 win at No. 3 doubles.

The second Phoenix point came at No. 4 singles, when sophomore Joey Leto (Downers Grove, Ill.) rolled to a 6-2, 6-2 victory. Junior Michael Tenzer (Neuried, Germany), the back-to-back Horizon League Player of the Year, posted the next singles win with a 6-3, 6-2 victory at No. 1 singles.

The clinching point came from sophomore Howard Scott (Exeter, England), who sent the Phoenix to the championship match with a 6-4, 6-3 win at No. 3 singles. Matches at No. 2, No. 5 and No. 6 singles were still in progress when the match ended.
