Green Bay Finishes Sixth at Titans Invitational
HIGHLAND, Mich. (GreenBayPhoenix.com) – Freshman Gene Kiela (Plymouth, Wis.) led the Phoenix for the second-straight tournament as the Green Bay men’s golf teams finished in sixth place at the Detroit Titans Invitational at Prestwick Village Golf Club. The 54-hole tournament finished with 18 holes on Saturday as the Phoenix battled low temperatures and snow flurries.
Kiela opened the tournament with an even par round of 72 before finishing at 10-over par 226 (72-76-78), good for a tie for 18th place. Junior Dan Ozga (Edgerton, Wis.) was two strokes back of Kiela in a tie for 22nd after rounds of 74, 77 and 77.
Sophomore Tom Boockmeier (Green Bay, Wis.) had an impressive final 18 holes given the conditions, shooting a 4-over par 76 to lead Green Bay. He carded scores of 79 and 73 in the opening rounds to finish tied with Ozga in 22nd. Senior Chad Ebert (Kenosha, Wis.) also had a 76 on Saturday and finished tied for 31st (81-76-76=233).
