Phoenix Competes in Bradley Invitational

PEORIA, Ill. (GreenBayPhoenix.com) - The Green Bay men's and women's cross country teams had their final tune-up before the Horizon League Championships as they competed in the eighth annual Bradley Classic Friday in Peoria, Ill.
The women's team finished in 16th place, placing ahead of Horizon League rivals UIC and Milwaukee while the men's team ran to a 19th-place finish. Missouri won the event on the women's side while Drake took home first place honors on the men's side.
Individually Lauren Mauel (Green Bay, Wis.) continued her strong season with a 35th place finish in the field of 230 runners, finishing with a time of 22:22.64 (6:01 pace). Classmate Areanna Lakowske (Sparta, Wis.) placed 90th crossing the line in a time of 23:28.66, running a 6:18/mile pace.
Freshman Nicole Will (Luxemburg, Wis.) ran a 6:22 pace, rounding out the top 100 with a time of 23:40.53. Erica Johnson (Felch, Mich.) ran a 6:33 pace to finish with a time of 24:23.14 while sophomore Lindsey Cook (Rhinelander, Wis.) rounded out the top five finishers for Green Bay with a time of 25:33.82.
On the men's side sophomore Alexander Kimble (Green Bay, Wis.) paced the Phoenix finishing in 91st place with a time of 27:06. Joshua Clark (Gillett, Wis.) completed the course in 27:45.6 while Stephen Wagner (Seymour, Wis.) crossed the line in 28:02.5.
Other finishers for the Green Bay men include Erik Blomsness (Winona, Minn.), Paul Malcore (Green Bay, Wis.), Jacob Nitzke (Fremont, Wis.) Andreau Enderby (New Franken, Wis.) and Andrew Dockendorff (La Crescent, Minn.).
Butler, Loyola, Milwaukee, UIC and Green Bay represented the Horizon League at the Bradley Classic. All five teams will compete for the Horizon League Championship title Saturday, Oct. 29 at Squire Valleevue Farm in Hunting Valley, Ohio.
