SOUTH BEND, Ind. (GreenBayPheonix.com) - The Green Bay men's and women's cross country teams got back to competition this weekend, participating in the Notre Dame Invitational.
The men's team finished 15th in the gold division with 498 team points. Junior Josh Clark (Gillett, Wis.) led the way for the Phoenix in 93rd place with a time of 27:49. Steve Wagner (Seymour, Wis.) was close behind Clark, finishing the course in 28:19.
Erik Blomsness (Winona, Minn.) rounded out the top 100 finishers with a time of 28:31. Evan Wachter (Plymouth, Wis.) crossed the line in 29:01, followed by Paul Malcore (Green Bay, Wis.) in 29:06 to round out the top five for the Phoenix.
On the women's side, sophomore Areanna Lakowske (Sparta, Wis.) paced the way for the Phoenix with a time of 20:28. Annie Bley (Egg Harbor, Wis.) completed the course in 20:47, followed by Danielle Pozolinski (Kimberly, Wis.) in 20:48.
As a team, the women scored 589 points.
Eastern Michigan won the men's race with 47 points while Oakland took top honors on the women's side with 91 points in the field of 19.
Both teams will have one more race before the Horizon League Championship on Oct. 30. Green Bay will compete at the Bradley Invitational Friday, Oct. 15 at 4:15 p.m.
