Cross Country Teams Finish Regular Season at Bradley

– The Green Bay men’s and women’s cross country teams returned to action Friday for the final regular season race of the 2013 season, competing in the Bradley Pink Classic hosted by Bradley University at Newman Golf Course. Sophomore Sarah Mauel (Green Bay, Wis.) continued to be the frontrunner for the women’s squad, turning in a 46th-place finish.

The women’s team finished in 22nd place, paced by Mauel’s time of 22:02 in the 6k-event. Freshman Breanna Seuss (Luxemburg, Wis.) crossed the finish line just over a minute later in 23:12, taking 149th place. Junior Sarah Frelich (Denmark, Wis.) took 175th place in a time of  23:36, while sophomore Rachel Crites (Dousman, Wis.) took 198th place in 24:01.

The men’s squad was led in the 8k-race by sophomore Dalton Woodworth (Sparta, Wis.), who finished in 146th place in a time of 26:36. Senior Alexander Kimble (Green Bay, Wis.) was right on Woodworth’s heels, finishing two seconds later in 152nd place. Junior Andrew Sorenson (Onalaska, Wis.) took 168th place in 26:54, while the freshmen duo of Austin Gokey (De Pere, Wis.) and Eric Bilitz (Fond du Lac, Wis.)  took 187th and 194th in times of 27:23 and 27:40, respectively.

With the regular season in the books, the Phoenix will have next week off before traveling to Youngstown, Ohio for the Horizon League Championship Meet held on Nov. 2.
