GREEN BAY, Wis. (GreenBayPhoenix.com) –
In what has become an annual tradition for the Green Bay men’s soccer team, the players and staff of the program hosted two community soccer clinics for two area youth soccer programs. The team held an event for the Ashwaubenon Youth Soccer Association (AYSA) on April 27 before hosting a second event for the Howard-Suamico United program earlier this month. The clinics helped the AYSA and Howard-Suamico United players prepare for their upcoming spring soccer seasons.

Approximately 70 area youth soccer players from AYSA attended the free two-hour clinic that focused on improving individual and team skills. Each player worked on skills such as shooting and dribbling techniques and had the opportunity to play games with the Phoenix coaches and players on hand.

More than 100 youth soccer players attended the Howard-Suamico clinic, which featured instruction on dribbling, passing, shooting and other general skills. Each player participated in entertaining games and activities with members of the men’s soccer program.

“We really enjoy the opportunity to give back to the community and hold events like this,” head coach Dan Popik said. “The Green Bay area has a growing and thriving soccer community and we’re fortunate enough to be able to share our skills with area youth.”

The Green Bay men's soccer program, which will kick off its 45th season later this summer, offers camp and clinic opportunities year-round for area youth clubs and community members. For more information on these opportunities, please contact Logan Hoffman at hoffmanl@uwgb.edu.
