Green Bay Returns Home to Face UIndy on Friday

GREEN BAY, Wis. ( - Fresh off a 2-1 performance in warm and sunny Cancun, Mexico, the Green Bay women's basketball team (4-1) will return home to face Indianapolis (4-0) on Friday at 7 p.m. It will be the first all-time meeting between Green Bay and Indianapolis, a Division II team currently ranked No. 6 in the NCAA D II coaches poll.

The Phoenix rebounded to post two solid victories in the 2012 Cancun Challenge after losing the opener in overtime to James Madison. The team responded with a 55-33 win over Missouri, holding the Tigers scoreless while going on a 20-0 run in the final 11:32 of play. In its final game, the Phoenix closed things out with a dominating 79-48 victory over Richmond.

Senior Sarah Eichler (Grafton, Wis.) received her first Horizon League Player of the Week selection in recognition of her play in Cancun. Eichler led the Phoenix during its visit south of the border, averaging 17.3 points on 73 percent shooting and 5.6 rebounds over the three-game span.  In Green Bay's win against Richmond, she scored a career-high 26 points, including a career-high five three-pointers in 27 minutes. The last Phoenix player to be named Horizon League Player of the Week was Julie Wojta, who was selected the week of February 27, 2012.

Indianapolis comes to Green Bay for the first time while boasting a 4-0 record, having last played at the Regis Thanksgiving Classic in Denver, Colo. Nov. 23-24. The Greyhounds opened with a 67-50 win over Colorado School of Mines and followed with a 65-56 victory over Regis.

HOOSIER BRUISERS: Since 1998-99, Kevin Borseth's first season as Green Bay head coach, the Phoenix has a 58-5 record against teams from the state of Indiana. Under Borseth, Green Bay has gone 33-4 against teams from the Hoosier State. Over the past two seasons, Green Bay has a perfect 11-0 record and +24.0 scoring margin against Indiana teams.

JOIN THE CLUB: Senior Adrian Ritchie (De Pere, Wis.) needs just seven points to become a member of the Green Bay women's basketball 1,000 point club. Ritchie would become the 30th member overall, and the 17th to join the club since the Phoenix became a Division I program in 1987.

HOT SHOTS: As a team, the Phoenix is shooting 43.4 percent from the floor and 35.5 percent from long range. Green Bay has six players shooting 40 percent or better, led by Ritchie. The senior is hitting an impressive 53.2 percent from the field and 41.9 percent from downtown while averaging a team-high 17.8 points per game.

INSIDE PHOENIX BASKETBALL: Green Bay women's basketball coach Kevin Borseth will join men's basketball coach Brian Wardle and host Matt Menzl each week to take fans Inside Phoenix Basketball. Held from 6-7 p.m. each Monday at Hagemeister Park in downtown Green Bay, the show will also be televised on tape-delay on Time Warner Cable Sports32 and TWC Wisconsin On Demand Channel 411. Borseth will appear in the second half of the show from 6:30-7, which will feature occasional player guests and video features.

NEXT ON THE SCHEDULE: Green Bay will hit the road again next week, first traveling to take on Central Michigan for the second time this season on Wednesday, Dec. 5 at 11 a.m. The Phoenix opened the season with a 75-48 victory over the Chippewas and will look to win its third straight matchup against CMU. Green Bay will then travel south to Milwaukee to take on Maquette on Saturday, Dec. 8 at 2 p.m. The Phoenix dealt the Golden Eagles a 66-50 loss at the Kress Center last season.
