GREEN BAY, Wis. ( - The second Kevin Borseth era of Green Bay women's basketball tipped off with a commanding 103-31 exhibition win over Judson Saturday, Oct. 27 at the Kress Events Center. The contest was the first for Borseth in the Kress.

"This is really all about the players. I want to make sure they're getting as much out of me as a coach as they want," Borseth said. "First time for me in the Kress Events Center is really exciting with the greatest fan support we could hope for and being able to coach in front of them and for them is an honor and privilege."

As Phoenix fans saw one veteran player lead the way with senior Sarah Eichler (Grafton, Wis.) scoring a game-high 18 points, they also saw a glimpse of the future as freshman Kaili Lukan (Barrie, Ontario) poured in 16 points.

Eichler scored five points in the first four minutes of the contest before finishing with 14 in the half. With a four-point Phoenix lead, Kaili Lukan's first collegiate points came off a three-pointer from the right wing, giving Green Bay the 18-11 advantage at the 13:41 mark. One minute later, Lukan drained her second three of the contest en route to 14 first-half points.

"After she sank her first three, she just wanted to jump out of her shoes. That was a Kodak moment," Borseth said. "That was one of those moments where I don't know if she'll ever have a bigger smile on her face the rest of her life."

Megan Lukan (Barrie, Ontario) went 4-for-4 from the field in the first half, scoring all of her 11 points in the opening half of play. As a team, Green Bay shot 61 percent in the first half from the field and 33 percent from three-point range en route to a 55-19 lead at the break.

"Judson played tough in the first half. They moved the ball well and hit some tough shots," said Borseth. "The key for us is to not get sloppy and foul a lot, and I think we did a great job of that in the first half."

All 15 players on the Phoenix roster saw playing time with five finishing in double figures. In addition to Eichler's 18, Kaili Lukan's 16 and Megan Lukan's 11, Breannah Ranger (Skokie, Ill.) and Jenny Gilbertson (Wabasha, Minn.) each added 10 points in the win.

"I believe in our team and they believe in themselves and we need everybody to contribute in order to move forward," Borseth said of his team's performance. "I was impressed with all of our players' efforts and concentration levels when they were playing out there."

Fans certainly can expect a hard-working 2012-13 Phoenix squad from both the senior leadership who is playing their last first of many things this season and seven freshmen who understand the honor of wearing the Green Bay jersey.

"It's an amazing feeling to know that it's been three years and it's gone so fast and been a great journey," Eichler said.

"I was very excited for this game," Kaili Lukan said. "It's one thing to put on a jersey on but to put one on for this team is a great experience. It's such a family here and I'm so proud to be part of it."

Green Bay will host Michigan Tech Saturday, Nov. 3 at 7 p.m. at the Kress Events Center in its final exhibition game.
