GREEN BAY, Wis. (GreenBayPhoenix.com) - Green Bay (3-5-0) opens its Horizon League schedule at Aldo Santaga Stadium on Saturday afternoon, hosting Detroit (3-4-1) at 12 p.m. in women's soccer action. The Phoenix will be looking to win its third-straight game at home.
In its last two contests at home, the Phoenix posted wins over Michigan Tech (Sept. 7) and South Dakota (Sept. 9), scoring seven goals combined in the two contests. In its last game, Green Bay got a goal from Hannah Kernen (Belleville, Wis.) but fell 2-1 on the road Wednesday at Illinois State, the defending Missouri Valley Conference champions.
Senior Megan Braatz (Waukesha, Wis.) continues to lead Green Bay in goals (3) and points (7), but a balanced Phoenix offense has seen seven different players find the back of the net at least once.
Detroit enters the contest after downing IUPUI 2-0 last Sunday at home. The Titans posted a 5-2-1 record in Horizon League play in 2011 and defeated the Phoenix 2-0 in the teams' meeting a season ago.
RIPPING THE NET: After finding the back of the net just eight times in 2011, Green Bay has posted eight goals in the last three games alone.
HOME SUCCESS: Green Bay is 1-0-1 against Detroit at home under Trevor Warren. The Phoenix won 2-1 in 2008 and battled to a 1-1 tie in 2010.
