GREEN BAY, Wis. (GreenBayPhoenix.com) - Green Bay women's soccer freshman Hannah Kernen (Belleville, Wis.) has been selected as a member of the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) High School All-American Team for the year of 2011. The former Belleville High School standout was the only Wisconsin player named to the 81-player squad.
Kernen finished her high school career with 130 goals and 45 assists, including 37 goals and 17 assists in her senior campaign. She was selected as the Wisconsin Soccer Coaches Association (WSCA) Player of the Year as a senior and was also chosen as the Capitol Conference Player of the Year in each of her four seasons.
As a freshman midfielder at Green Bay in 2011, Kernen led the Phoenix with 13 shots on goal, netting one score while dishing out a pair of assists. Kernen's first career goal came just 32 seconds into Green Bay's Aug. 21st contest at Drake, marking the fastest goal after kickoff in Phoenix women's soccer history.
Kernen was one of 29 midfielders named to the 2011 NSCAA High School All-American Team. The 81 athletes will be recognized at the annual All-American Lunchaeon, held at the Kansas City Convention Center's Grand Ballroom on Saturday, Jan. 14, in conjunction with the 2012 NSCAA Convention in Kansas City, Mo.
