Soccer Programs Recognized for Efforts in the Classroom

Green Bay is one of 125 soccer programs nationwide to have both its men's and women's teams post a GPA of 3.0 or higher

GREEN BAY, Wis. ( - Both the Green Bay men's and women's soccer teams have earned the NSCAA Team Academic Award for the 2009-10 academic year following a successful season not only on the field but in the classroom.

A total of 630 soccer teams (194 men, 435 women) posted a team grade point average of 3.0 or higher to earn the academic award. Of the 630 teams, 125 schools, including Green Bay, had both their men's and women's programs recognized.

The Green Bay women's team posted a grade point average of 3.17 while the men earned a 3.10 GPA in the classroom. Green Bay is one of five schools in the state and one of two in the Horizon League to have both its men's and women's teams earn an average GPA of 3.0 or higher.

The NSCAA is the largest soccer coaches' organization in the world. It includes more than 30,000 members who coach both genders at all levels of the sport. In addition to a national rankings program for colleges and high schools, NSCAA offers an extensive recognition program that presents nearly 10,000 individual awards every year.
