GREEN BAY, Wis. (GreenBayPhoenix.com) - The Green Bay women's soccer team (2-7-3, 0-3-1 Horizon League) is set to begin a three-match road swing on Friday against in-state rival Milwaukee (7-5-2, 3-1-0 Horizon League). Game time is slated for 7 p.m. at Engelmann Field.
Milwaukee, which has won 10 consecutive regular season conference titles, owns a 20-6-1 advantage in the all-time series against the Phoenix. The last time Green Bay defeated the Panthers was on Oct. 17, 2003 at Santaga Stadium.
Green Bay is coming off a week in which it was defeated 3-0 by Butler on Friday before battling to a 0-0 tie against Valparaiso on Sunday. Prior to the loss to Butler, the Phoenix had not surrendered more than a single goal in any game this season.
The Panthers also enter tomorrow's match coming off a loss to Butler. The Bulldogs handed Milwaukee a 1-0 loss on Sunday despite being outshot by the opposition 16-2. The Panthers are currently in a three-way tie for first place in the league standings.
Drusch wins Horizon League award: Junior goalkeeper (Appleton, Wis.) was tabbed as the Horizon League Scholar-Athlete of the Month for the Month of September, becoming the first Green Bay women's soccer player in program history to win the award. Drusch has ranked among the nation's best in save percentage and goals-against average throughout the season while carrying a 3.7 cumulative grade-point average.
