INDIANAPOLIS (GreenBayPhoenix.com) – The Green Bay men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams wrapped up the three-day IUPUI House of Champions Invitational on Sunday, with the women’s squad taking the team title and the men’s squad finishing second to the host Jaguars in a competitive battle that came down to the final event.

The Green Bay women led at the end of all three days, finishing atop the eight-team field with 1,819 points and remaining undefeated on the year. IUPUI was second on the women’s side with a score of 1,391.

The Phoenix men held a slight lead over IUPUI heading into Sunday’s final event, but the Jaguars claimed the 400-yard freestyle to edge Green Bay 1,686 to 1,679 for the team title.

The women’s team had 11 first-place finishes over the three days, winning four relays and seven individual events.

Freshmen Haley Lucas (Menomonee Falls, Wis.) and Natalie Neuwirth (Stevens Point, Wis.) both won a pair of individual events, as Lucas took the 100 butterfly (56.36) and 200 butterfly (2:04.28), and Neuwirth finished first in the 200 IM (2:05.98) and 400 IM (4:29.76). Both newcomers were on Green Bay’s winning 400 medley relay (3:50.93), and Neuwirth was also on the victories 200 free (1:35.91), 400 free (3:30.17) and 800 free (7:36.07) relay teams, bringing her win total for the weekend to six events.

Senior Parker Wolf (Kohler, Wis.) also had a strong meet for the Phoenix women, highlighted by her win in the 50 free on day one. Wolf’s first-place time of 23.39 was not only a personal best, but also a House of Champions meet record.

Other individual winners for the women’s squad were Anna Gomez (Burlington, Wis.) in the 1650 free (17:07.63) and Carrie Dinelli (Northbrook, Ill.) on the 3-meter diving board (271.30).

Junior Ryan Korslin (Rudolph, Wis.) was a four-time winner on the men’s side, taking a pair of individual races and swimming on two winning relays. Korslin claimed both the 100 breaststroke (55.66) and 200 breaststroke (2:02.94) events after helping both the 200 medley (1:32.18) and 400 medley (3:24.54) relays to victories.

Sophomore Willem Poelmans (Hasselt, Belgium) won three total events for Green Bay, taking the 200 IM (1:52.67) and 400 IM (3:58.41), and joining Korslin on the winning 400 medley relay squad.

The Phoenix men and women will be off from official competition until Jan. 11, when they host Horizon League foe UIC at the Peter F. Dorschel Natatorium.
