Women's Soccer Hosts Senior Day Against Wright State on Saturday

GREEN BAY, Wis. ( – The Green Bay women’s soccer team will take to the pitch at Aldo Santaga Stadium one final time this season as it hosts Wright State for senior day at 1 p.m. 

Seniors Ellen Joppe (Green Bay, Wis.), Ahna Logan (Roseville, Minn.), Hekla Palmadottir (Akranes, Iceland) and Renee Therrien (Winnipeg, Manitoba) will all be honored before the match for their contributions to the Phoenix women’s soccer program. caught up with the quartet to reflect on their time in Green Bay in anticipation of their final home match. Below is a brief capsule for each player:

Playing for the Phoenix over three seasons, Ellen has appeared in 22 matches, starting one match during the 2011 season. This year, Ellen has played in six matches, serving as a valuable sub in the forward line.

A four-year player for the Phoenix, Ahna has appeared in 65 games, registering seven points on three goals and an assist. A mainstay in the midfield, Ahna served as a team captain this season and has started all 14 contests. Ahna scored her first career goal against Northern Iowa her freshman season and added another goal as a sophomore against Cleveland State. Last season, Ahna registered her first career assist in a win against Northern Iowa and also netted a goal against Wright State. She will graduate this spring with a degree in human biology.

Playing in 59 career games for Green Bay, Hekla has totaled 21 points on five goals and 11 assists. Hekla has ranked among the top scorers for the Phoenix every season, including her sophomore season when she led the team with three goals and three assists. This year she is tied for the team lead with seven points and was named the Horizon League Offensive Player of the Week earlier this season after finishing the Phoenix Soccer Tournament with a goal and two assists. Hekla will graduate this spring with a dual degree in mathematics and business administration.

Renee has appeared in 59 games over four seasons for the Phoenix. Tallying one goal in her career, Renee found the back of the net against Michigan Tech last season. As a freshman, Renee played in all 16 matches and led the team with 11 shots on goal. She will graduate this spring with a degree in human biology with a minor in French.

The Phoenix is 4-7-4 overall and 1-4-0 in the Horizon League this season. The squad has not won a match since it opened the conference season with a win against Oakland on September 27. However, Green Bay is 4-2-1 at home this season where it has outscored its opponents, 8-3. 

Heidi Hartmann (Plymouth, Minn.) and Palmadottir continue to stand atop the team with seven points on two goals and three assists, while Hannah Kernen (Belleville, Wis.) has a team-best three goals.

Katy Pilarzyk (Madison, Wis.) has appeared in the last two games for the Phoenix, playing the final 45:00 against Cleveland State and the entire match at Milwaukee on Wednesday. This season she has appeared in a total of seven matches with a 1.11 goals-against average and a .727 save percentage. Nastacia Behle (St. Paul, Mo.) has played in 12 games for the Phoenix, posting a 1.05 goals-against average and a .766 save percentage.

SCOUTING THE RAIDERS: Roster Schedule Stats
Wright State is 6-5-4 overall and 3-1-1 in the conference this season, currently residing in second place behind Milwaukee. The squad recently handed the Panthers their first loss of the season last Saturday, a 1-0 decision in Dayton. 

Emilie Fillion leads the Raiders and is tied for the conference lead with eight goals. She also had 19 total points, tops for both the team and Horizon League. Along with Fillion, Kalee Thompson and Natalie Sedlock have three assists apiece, with the Raiders using 10 different players to assist on its 18 goals this season. 

In net, Brooke McCurdy has appeared in all 15 matches for the Raiders. She currently stands second in the conference with 75 saves, a 0.99 goals-against average and five shutouts.
