GREEN BAY, Wis. (GreenBayPhoenix.com) – Green Bay (4-6-4, 1-3-0 HL) controlled possession and gave itself plenty of chances on Saturday afternoon at Aldo Santaga Stadium, but the Phoenix was unable to find the back of the net and dropped a 1-0 decision to visiting Cleveland State (8-7-1, 2-3-0 HL) in Horizon League women’s soccer action.

Green Bay dominated in shots in the opening 45 minutes, taking 14 shots compared to just three for the Vikings. Junior Hannah Kernen (Green Bay, Wis.) had the best chance to score in the 40th minute, but her header just glanced off the far right post.

In the second half, the Phoenix continued to have chances to dent the scoreboard. In the 79th minute, Kernen again threatened, but CSU keeper Sarah Wood made a nice save on a 1-on-1.

Sophomore keeper Katy Pilarzyk (Madison, Wis.) entered the game at halftime for the Phoenix, and in the 82nd minute momentarily preserved the shutout with a diving save.

Later in the same minute, Pilarzyk was unable to make another miraculous save when Amanda Sivic scored to the far left post after the Phoenix attempted to clear a corner kick. It was the fifth marker of the season for Sivic.

Green Bay will be in action again on Wednesday, traveling down I43 to Milwaukee to play the Panthers at 5:30 p.m.
