The Phoenix looks to bounce back on Wednesday when it plays host to Loyola at Santaga Stadium.

DETROIT, Mich. (GreenBayPhoenix.com) - The Green Bay women's soccer team (3-8-2, 1-2-0) dropped a 2-0 decision on the road Saturday afternoon as Detroit (9-4-1, 2-1-0) scored a goal in each half at a windy Titan Field to hand the Phoenix its second Horizon League loss. It marked just the second time in 13 matches this season that the Phoenix allowed more than one goal.

"I thought we defended well once again against a good Detroit team," Phoenix head coach Trevor Warren said. "It was a tough environment playing in strong winds on artificial turf, but I think we played solid at the back and in the midfield and dealt with their pressure quite well. The wind just made it difficult for us to get things going offensively."

The home team tallied the first goal in the 22nd minute on a penalty kick by defender Rebekah Dornbos. The junior beat Phoenix senior goalkeeper Maddie Drusch (Appleton, Wis.) for her fourth goal of the year.

Detroit added the insurance score at the 56:55 mark when Kaitlyn Quarrell knocked in her fourth goal of the season with a shot from 18 yards out the left side.

The Titans outshot the Phoenix 11-2 in the contest, including a 4-2 edge in shots on goal. Detroit's Lauren Roffey fired a game-high three shot attempts, while Emily Friedl (Kenosha, Wis.) and Ahna Logan (Roseville, Minn.) each had shots on goal for Green Bay.

Drusch made a pair of saves in the match while allowing the two goals. Titans' keeper Nora Abolins also made two saves in the game en route to her fourth shutout of the year.

Detroit entered the contest as the league's most potent offensive squad, averaging 2.92 goals per game, which ranks 11th among 330 Division I women's soccer programs. In addition, the Titans are currently ranked ninth in the Great Lakes Region. The Phoenix was without its top offensive threat on Saturday, as sophomore Hekla Palmadottir (Akranes, Iceland) was sidelined with an injury. Palmadottir leads Green Bay with nine points in 2011 (3 goals, 3 assists).

The Phoenix aims to bounce back on Wednesday when it plays host to Loyola at 7 p.m. at Santaga Stadium.
