No. 24/25 Green Bay Stays Perfect in League Play with 65-51 Win Over CSU
CLEVELAND, Ohio (GreenBayPhoenix.com) – Mehryn Kraker led Green Bay with 21 points and Jessica Lindstrom recorded her 10th double-double (16 points, 15 rebounds) of the season, as the Phoenix (19-2, 10-0) downed Cleveland State 65-51 on Saturday afternoon at the Wolstein Center.
Green Bay led wire to wire in the victory, as it slowly pulled away from the Vikings (10-11, 5-5) with each quarter. The first 10 minutes of play saw the Phoenix construct a 23-16 lead, one that would continue to increase as time passed.
Green Bay outscored Cleveland State in each quarter, building all the way up to an 18-point lead with 6:20 to play in the third quarter. The Phoenix would go on to claim its 11th-straight victory and defeat Cleveland State 65-51.
Kraker led the way for Green Bay with 21 points on a 9-of-16 effort from the field. The forward also pulled down three rebounds, doled out three assists and picked up a steal in 34 minutes of action. Lindstrom notched her 10th double-double of the season with 16 points and 15 rebounds in 36 minutes.
Allie LeClaire joined Kraker and Lindstrom in double-digit scoring numbers, as the junior added 10 points of her own. She also handed out six assists and grabbed three rebounds.
Green Bay was forced into an uncharacteristic 20 turnovers in the matchup but only allowed the Vikings to capitalize with 11 points off turnovers.
Ashanti Abshaw led the way for the Vikings with 21 points on 6-13 shooting and grabbed seven rebounds in 40 minutes.
The Phoenix will now take its 10-game winning streak to Cleveland, Ohio as it gears up for a matchup with Cleveland State on Saturday at noon.
