Green Bay Cruises Past Milwaukee, Wins Ninth Straight

GREEN BAY, Wis. (GreenBayPhoenix.com) – In a rematch of the 2016 Horizon League Tournament Championship, the Green Bay (17-2, 8-0) women’s basketball team welcomed Milwaukee (13-6, 5-3) to the Kress Events Center on Saturday afternoon, handedly defeating the Panthers 89-47. Mehryn Kraker passed Adrian Ritchie on Green Bay’s all-time three pointers made list, knocking down two in the game to bring her career total to 197 made.

 After allowing Milwaukee to score the first points of the game, The Phoenix rattled off a 14-0 run and never looked back. At the end of the opening quarter of play, Green Bay led 26-12 with Jessica Lindstrom scoring 10 points of her own.

Green Bay steadily added to its lead as play continued, outscoring the Panthers 15-7 over the first 5:56 of the second quarter. Kraker tied Ritchie with her first three-pointer at the 9:09 mark and later passed her for the program’s lead in the same quarter, sending another triple through the net with 1:11 remaining in the half. Kraker’s record-breaking basket was also technically the game winner, as it brought Green Bay’s total to 48 points and the Phoenix held the Panthers to 47.

Green Bay continued its dominance all the way to the end, as the Phoenix went on the claim an 89-47 victory for its ninth-straight win.

Lindstrom scored a game-high 18 points on a 7-of-11 shooting clip, pulled down five rebounds, doled out four assists, grabbed three steals and blocked one shot in 27 minutes. Kraker finished the day with 11 points, four assists and six rebounds in 24 minutes.

Madison Wolf scored a career-high 13 points, shot a perfect 5-of-5 from the field and pulled down a trio of rebounds in 15 minutes. Mackenzie Wolf also had a career afternoon for the Phoenix, scoring a career-high eight points and grabbing four boards.

The Phoenix will now hit the road for four-straight games, traveling Youngstown, Ohio to kick off the road trip with Youngstown State on Jan. 26 at 6 p.m.
