GREEN BAY, Wis. ( - After being an All-Horizon League First Team selection as a sophomore, Alec Brown's (Winona, Minn.) junior season did not start as planned or expected. The 7-foot-1 junior scored just two points in the opener as part of, by his standards, a rough start to the year.

There has been nothing rough about Brown's finish. In Horizon League play, Brown has been dominant from inside and out, ranking fifth in the conference in scoring at 15.7 points per game. In 15 league games, he has scored 15 or more points nine times and posted four 20-point games while also swatting 2.8 shots in 32.9 minutes per game.

The most recent outburst from Brown was in Tuesday's 78-61 win over Milwaukee, when the big man showed off his entire arsenal in a 28-point outing. His career-high scoring total included four three-pointers, a dunk, a running hook, a step back 18-foot jump shot, two putbacks and a driving layup. Brown went 10-of-12 from the field, including 4-of-5 from long range, and added eight rebounds and three blocks.

For the season, Brown ranks in the top-10 in the Horizon League in points, rebounds, blocks, offensive rebounds and defensive rebounds. After making just four shots from long range as a sophomore, Brown is shooting 42 percent from beyond the arc this season, sinking 21-of-50 threes.

So despite a slow start and some ups and downs, Alec Brown has been what Alec Brown has always been - productive.

Through 91 career games, Brown has racked up 1130 points, 599 rebounds and 211 blocked shots. Only two other players in Horizon League history can boast totals of at least 1,000 points, 500 rebounds and 200 blocks.

Brown and the Phoenix welcome Valparaiso to the Resch Center for the regular season finale on Saturday at 2 p.m. Including 18 points in the first meeting this season, Brown is averaging 18.4 points per game in five contests against the Crusaders.
