GREEN BAY, Wis. (GreenBayPhoenix.com) - The second Kevin Borseth era of Green Bay women's basketball officially tips off Saturday, Oct. 27 when the Phoenix hosts Judson at 2 p.m. at the Kress Events Center in exhibition play. It will be the first time the new, yet familiar head coach will guide the Phoenix from the sidelines at the Kress.

Borseth returns to Green Bay for his second stint with the Phoenix after spending the previous five seasons as the head coach at Michigan. Prior to his tenure at Michigan, in 1998 Borseth was hired as the second coach at Green Bay where he led the Phoenix to an impressive 216-62 record while advancing to the postseason all nine seasons.

Topping the Horizon League Preseason Poll, Green Bay returns four of its five starters from 2011-12 in seniors Adrian Ritchie (De Pere, Wis.), Lydia Bauer (Lake Zurich, Ill.) and Sarah Eichler (Grafton, Wis.) along with redshirt sophomore Megan Lukan (Barrie, Ontario). Senior Stephanie Sension (Hopkins, Minn.) led all bench players averaging 6.0 ppg, 2.3 rpg and 12.0 minutes per contest.

After earning Second Team All-League honors in 2011-12, Ritchie was tabbed a Horizon League Preseason All-League First Team selection this season. It is the first preseason honor for the 5'11" senior guard who finished seventh in the league shooting 35.1 percent from beyond the arc and enters her senior season ranked fifth and seventh respectively in three-point field goal attempts and three-point field goals made on Green Bay's individual career record lists.

Joining Ritchie picking up preseason honors was Bauer who earned Second Team All-League preseason recognition. In 2011-12, Bauer led the Phoenix with 55 three-point field goals, ranking 10th on Green Bay's individual season record list.

With its second consecutive 30-win season (31-2) in 2011-12 and overall winning percentage of .728, Green Bay enters this season as the eighth winningest team (based on percentage) all-time in Division I and 14th winningest team all-time with 820 program victories. The Phoenix also completed its 35th consecutive winning season, which ranks third all-time behind Louisana Tech and Tennessee, who both have 39. In the last five years, Green Bay is the third winningest team based on percentage (.886) and fifth winningest team based on wins (148).

The 2012-13 season marks a couple of milestones for Green Bay women's basketball. This season we celebrate the 40th season in program history which began in 1973, led by Carol Hammerle. Green Bay's first winning season came in 1977-78, and it has not had a losing season since, earning 15 consecutive postseason berths.

This season also marks 40 years of Title IX, which was signed into law by President Nixon. In 1987-88, Green Bay made the leap to Division I. New NCAA legislation required that if a university's men's program was Division I, the institution's women's program would have to follow suit.

Judson University is an NAIA institution located in Elgin, Ill. The Eagles are part of the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference and tip of the 2012-13 season under the direction of former Illinois State University All-American and WNBA player Kristi Cirone.

Judson finished its 2011-12 campaign 14-17 overall and was fourth in the CCAC with a 5-7 record. Sophomore forward Emily Ragsdale earned All-CCAC Second Team honors for the first time in her career after leading the team with 7.5 rebounds per game and 72 blocked shots while averaging 8.1 points per game.

FOLLOW THE ACTION LIVE: Fans unable to attend the game Saturday can track live stats of the contest on greenbayphoenix.com.

'SPOOKTACULAR' MAKE A DIFFERENCE DAY: Fans are encouraged to head out to the Kress Events Center early on Saturday for a "Spooktacular" Halloween-themed event being held from noon-4 p.m. Children of all ages are encouraged to come in costume and participate in activities such as Plinko, pumpkin decorating, face-painting, ring toss a bouncy house and pumpkin bowling. Kids will receive wristbands upon arrival for free admission to the game with tickets available for parents to purchase.

The 2012-13 men's basketball players will also be on hand to interact with those in attendance and cheer on the Phoenix.

The Spooktacular event is being held in conjunction with Make a Difference Day, a national effort designed to encourage volunteerism and make a positive difference in the community.

ROLLIN' WITH RITCHIE: After bringing fans a variety of "Rollin' with Ritchie" episodes throughout the offseason, the senior Business Administration/Marketing major is excited to continue sharing her video skills and creativity throughout the 2012-13 campaign.

The most recent Rollin' with Ritchie episode features a behind-the-scenes look at Horizon League media day held in early October in addition to a look at Green Bay's annual media day held Oct. 16. Fans can watch the latest episode here. Stay tuned for more Rollin' with Ritchie throughout the season.
