GREEN BAY, Wis. (GreenBayPhoenix.com) - After working out with her future teammates on the Green Bay women's basketball team while getting a taste of what her freshman season of college basketball will be like, Kailli Lukan (Barrie, Ontario) will have little rest the remainder of her summer break as she prepares to represent her country of Canada on the U18 Junior National Team.

Lukan was one of 30 players from Canada invited to try out for the U18 Junior National Team. Following the initial tryouts, 16 remained before 12, including Lukan, were chosen for the final roster with Lukan having a great chance at being the starting point guard. Lukan and her team will compete in the FIBA U18 national championship held Aug. 15-19 in Gurabo, Puerto Rico with the top four teams advancing to next year's world championship held in Lithuania.

Lukan is one of five freshmen that join the Phoenix for the 2012-13 season. The Barrie Central graduate was a three-time MVP of her prep team, Defensive Player of the Year her junior year while earning Athlete of the Year honors from 2009-12.
