GREEN BAY, Wis. (GreenBayPhoenix.com) – The Green Bay women’s basketball team concludes its six game road trip this weekend, traveling to Bangor to take part in the Maine Thanksgiving Tournament, hosted by the University of Maine November 22-23.

The Phoenix opens the tourney against William and Mary on Friday at 6 p.m. CST. The squad will then face either host Maine or Massachusetts on Saturday afternoon. If Green Bay wins its opener against W&M it will play in the championship game at 1 p.m. CST, but if it loses it will play in the consolation game at 11 a.m. CST.

Fans can listen live to the game on Green Bay's new radio partner, WNFL 1440 AM. The live audio with Bruce VandenPlas on the call will also be available for free via GreenBayPhoenix.com or on the Green Bay Phoenix App on IOS and Android devices. Live stats will also be available through the University of Maine. If the Phoenix plays Maine on Saturday, video will also be provided.

Green Bay is facing a new line of competition this weekend, having faced only one team in the tournament lineup (Maine). Opening against William and Mary on Friday, Green Bay will face a CAA opponent for just the second time in program history and second-consecutive season (89-86 OT loss vs. James Madison last year). If the Phoenix face Massachusetts, it will be the first-ever meeting between the two teams. Green Bay is 6-2 all-time against A-10 opponents, including 1-1 this season with a win at Duquesne (11/17) and a loss at St. Bonaventure (11/15). The Phoenix is 1-1 all-time against Maine, winning the first ever meeting on Nov. 29, 1991 (58-57) and losing the next matchup 12 seasons later on Dec. 5, 2003 (73-76).

William and Mary is 0-4 this season under first year head coach Ed Swanson, most recently dropping an 84-71 decision at Winthrop on Saturday. The Tribe has played three of its four games on the road this season, with its closest margin of defeat coming in that contest, a 61-60 loss at the hands of High Point. W&M has three players averaging double-digit scoring this season, led by Kaitlyn Mathieu’s 16.0 PPG. Mathieu also leads the team with 8.5 RPG and 0.8 BPG. Jazmen Boone leads the team averaging 3.5 APG and 2.5 SPG.

STARTING FIVE
1. Road Warriors: The Phoenix concludes its longest road game streak in 14 seasons this weekend in Maine. The three week, six game span is just the third time in the Division I era Green Bay has played that many consecutive games on the road, as it also happened to start both the 1997-98 and 1998-99 seasons. The 1998-99 season was head coach Kevin Borseth’s first season at the helm in Green Bay.

2. Closing in on 250: Head Coach Kevin Borseth is closing in on his 250th win at the helm of the Phoenix. In 315 career games over 10 seasons in Green Bay, Borseth is 249-66 (.790). Carol Hammerle (1973-98) is the all-time winningest coach at Green Bay with 456 career wins over 25 seasons. Borseth could be the quickest to 250, as it took Hammerle 376 games over 15 seasons to reach the plateau.

3. Back-to-Back: In back-to-back weeks, Green Bay freshman Tesha Buck was tabbed as the Horizon League Freshman of the Week. She became just the second player in conference history to earn the honor in back-to-back weeks, and the Phoenix has taken home the award each of the first three weeks to start the season. Starting both games of the TD Bank Classic hosted by the University of Vermont last weekend, Buck averaged 8.5 points, 5.0 rebounds, 4.0 steals, 3.5 assists and 0.5 blocks in 29.0 minutes.

4. Kaili Can: After missing the majority of last season with a knee injury, Kaili Lukan is making a strong comeback for the Phoenix, currently leading the team with 11.8 points per game. En route to collecting TD Bank Classic Tourney MVP honors last weekend, she led the team averaging 12.5 PPG, aided by 70 percent shooting (7-10) from three. Before that she was just 1-5 (.200) from deep in three games.

5. Feed it in: Green Bay has been able to capitalize on offensive production in the paint this season, receiving 44.6 percent (154-345) of its total points from the lane while outscoring its opponents in the category by a +62 margin (154-92). Senior Breannah Ranger leads all Phoenix with 40 paint points.
