Phoenix Insider: Total Transformation
It’s safe to say that Breannah Ranger has changed a bit since setting foot on campus back in 2009.
The 6-foot-2 forward has evolved from someone who played sparingly during her first three seasons at Green Bay into one of the Horizon League’s most effective post presences. She finished second in the conference in field-goal percentage (53.5) in her breakout 2012-13 season while averaging 7.3 points in 18 minutes per game off the bench.
She has improved her strength, speed, agility, footwork, defense, shooting and post moves – essentially every aspect of the game she grew up playing with her many brothers, sisters, cousins and the rest of her basketball-loving family in Skokie, Ill. Those improvements helped Ranger lead the Phoenix in rebounds per game (5.1) as a junior last year, posting the first two double-doubles of her career along the way.
As vast as the changes have been on the basketball court, however, the ones off the court have been the most dramatic and most satisfying for Ranger as she prepares for her final year of college.
