Tesha Buck Named Horizon League Freshman of the Week

GREEN BAY, Wis. (GreenBayPhoenix.com) – Recording several career-high marks over the weekend, freshman Tesha Buck (Red Wing, Minn.) was recognized for her efforts as she was named the Horizon League Freshman of the Week as announced by the conference office on Monday.
Starting both games over the weekend, Buck averaged 11.0 points, 5.0 assists and 4.0 rebounds in 34.5 minutes to help the Phoenix split a pair of decisions at St. Bonaventure (L, 68-62) and Duquesne (W, 68-60). She finished both games with a career-high 11 points, and against the Dukes on Sunday dished out a game and career-best seven assists. Buck also led the Phoenix from behind the arc over the weekend, shooting 35.7 percent (5-14) from deep.
This season Buck leads the team in assists (15/5.0 APG) and minutes played (98/32.7 MPG) while standing second in points scored (31/10.3 PPG). Her APG total is currently third best in the Horizon League.
It is the second-consecutive week the Phoenix took home conference freshman of the week honors. Mehryn Kraker (West Allis, Wis.) was the first recipient of the honor a week ago.
Wright State’s Ivory James joined Buck as she was recognized as the Horizon League Player of the Week.
The Phoenix continues its six-game road trip this weekend, traveling to take on Siena on Friday at 4 p.m. in the first game of the TD Bank Classic hosted by the University of Vermont. It will then face either host Vermont on North Florida on Friday evening.
