Kraker Named Horizon League WBB Freshman of the Week

GREEN BAY, Wis. ( – Leading the team in scoring in her first collegiate start, freshman Mehryn Kraker (West Allis, Wis.) was rewarded for her efforts when she was named the Horizon League Freshman Player of the Week by the conference office on Monday.

Making her first collegiate start in her first collegiate game after missing last season with an injury, Kraker posted a game-high 13 points and two blocks in leading the Phoenix to a 78-44 win over NIU. She also added five rebounds and two assists in 27 minutes on the court.

Wright State's Kim Demmings was tabbed the Horizon League Player of the Week after aiding the Raiders to a season-opening win at Southern Illinois. 

Last Friday’s contest was the first home opener for the Phoenix in 26 seasons, and the first start in the Division I era. Green Bay now takes to the road for six consecutive games, starting with a matchup at St. Bonaventure on Friday at 6 p.m. CST.
