Eichler and Ritchie combined for 41 points in Green Bay's semifinal win over UIC, helping the Phoenix advance to Sunday's championship game

Editor's Note: Throughout postseason play, Assistant Director of Athletics Communications Jill Wunrow will provide "Postseason Props" to a Phoenix player/players she feels provided a spark in Green Bay's most recent game.

HORIZON LEAGUE SEMIFINAL, (1) Green Bay 73, (4) UIC 53 - Postseason Props is a shared honor in No. 10/10 Green Bay's (29-1, 17-1 HL) 73-53 semifinal win over UIC (18-13, 10-8 HL) with Adrian Ritchie (De Pere, Wis.) and Sarah Eichler (Grafton, Wis.) earning props for their performances.

The juniors scored a combined 41 points with Eichler tying a career-high 19 and Ritchie having her third 20-point performance of the season, leading the Phoenix with 22 points.

On the way to the postgame interview, Eichler said this week is the best she has felt since suffering a sprained ankle Feb. 7, missing Green Bay's lone regular season loss to Detroit Feb. 9.

"I wish I could play like this all the time, I have no idea why it always seems I play better in tournament time," Eichler said. "Sometimes it's just the game, how many touches you get on offense and how your opponent is playing you."

The junior forward scored six consecutive points in Green Bay's semifinal contest, giving the Phoenix its biggest lead (27-11) of the first half with 7:28 to play. Eichler kept rolling in the second half, chipping in nine points in 13 minutes of play.

Eichler has scored in double figures four of Green Bay's last five postseason contests. Averaging 12 points per game in last season's Horizon League Championship, Eichler was named to the All-Tournament team.

"It's March Madness, they call it that for a reason," said Eichler.

After scoring eight points in the opening period, Ritchie led all players with 14 points in the second half, opening with one of her two three pointers.

"A lot of our offensive success comes from Julie, even if she's not always scoring the points," said Eichler. "She pulls three people towards her which opens up the opportunity for everyone else."

Ritchie is also no stranger to shining in postseason play as the junior guard scored a game-high 20 points in Green Bay's NCAA Tournament win last season over Michigan State, sinking 4-of-5 three pointers.
