GREEN BAY, Wis. (GreenBayPhoenix.com) – It’s time to “Pack the House” for senior, alumni and parents day on Saturday as the Green Bay women’s basketball team hosts its final regular season game of the 2013-14 campaign, welcoming Detroit to the Kress Events Center for a 1 p.m. tip.

Saturday’s contest is a Festival Foods Family Game, with youth tickets just $3. Fans are also encouraged to bring canned food items for the Cellcom canned food drive to benefit the Salvation Army. The first 750 fans to donate will receive a Phoenix tumbler.

In a pregame ceremony, the current members of the Phoenix squad will be introduced alongside their parents, while returning alumni will be recognized for their contributions to the program and university at halftime.

Following the game, seniors Breannah Ranger (Skokie, Ill.) and Sam Zastrow (Algoma, Wis.) will take to the court to be recognized for their accomplishments with the Phoenix through their five-year careers.

Live audio with Bruce VandenPlas on the call will be available for free via GreenBayPhoenix.com or on the Green Bay Phoenix App on IOS and Android devices. Video of the game will be available online for free through the Horizon League Network.

Green Bay is coming off of a 67-52 win over Oakland on Thursday, guaranteeing the Phoenix at least a share of its 16th-consecutive Horizon League regular season championship. The streak is currently the longest active in the nation. It also helped Green Bay secure the top seed in the upcoming conference tournament, March 12-16. Information for the upcoming tournament can be found here.

The Phoenix is also one win away from its 27th 20+ win season in program history. Green Bay has reached the milestone 14 consecutive years, and head coach Kevin Borseth has achieved the feat in all but one of his seasons with the Phoenix.

Saturday’s game is the 48th all-time meeting between Green Bay and Detroit, with the Phoenix leading 40-7. Green Bay has won the last five meetings, including an 84-72 triumph at Detroit on February 1 of this season.

Starting the conference season 1-11, Detroit is 2-1 in its last three games with wins over Valparaiso and Youngstown State to move to 3-12 in the conference and 6-22 overall this season. The Titans most recently fell at UIC, 83-66, on Thursday. Senee Shearer leads the team with 19.5 points per game and recently broke the program record for career three point baskets made. Ellisha Crosby averages 17.5 points and a team-high 7.4 rebounds per game, while Tayelor McCalister is the only other Titan in double-digit scoring with 12.1 while also dishing out a team-best 3.4 assists per game.

STARTING FIVE
1. Sweet 16th: With a win over Oakland on Thursday, Green Bay guaranteed at least a share of the Horizon League regular season conference championship, its 16th-consecutive title. The win also guaranteed the Phoenix the top seed in the upcoming conference tournament. The streak of 16 seasons is currently the longest active streak in the nation.

2. Roaring Twenties: With a win against Detroit on Saturday, Green Bay would lock up its 27th all-time 20+ win season in program history. It would also mark the 15th consecutive 20+ win season and 10th under head coach Kevin Borseth, who has reached the mark in all but one season in his time at Green Bay.

3. Sharp Shooter: In her senior season at Green Bay, Breannah Ranger has established herself as the top threat to score in the paint for the Phoenix. Against Oakland on Thursday Ranger finished with a career-high 19 points, going 8-for-13 (.615) from the field. This season Ranger has scored 10+ points in 16 games and shot over 50 percent in 17 contests. She currently leads the Horizon League shooting 54.5 percent (120-220).

4. Off the Bench: The Green Bay reserves have provided an offensive spark in the last six contests,  averaging 24.6 points per game, including a conference season-high 35 at UIC on Feb. 8. The Phoenix has received contributions from everyone on its roster this season, and has had 10 or more players score in a game seven times.

5. Trophy Buck: Freshman Tesha Buck is making quite an impact in her first season with the Phoenix. Buck is just the second true freshman to start for the Phoenix since 1998, joining Sarah Eichler (2009) on the list. Named the Horizon League Freshman of the Week on four occasions this season, including receiving the honor this week, Buck has already surpassed her predecessor’s numbers from her freshman campaign in every category, posting 286 points (186), 145 rebounds (88), 107 assists (47), nine blocks (2) and 49 steals (40).
