JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (GreenBayPhoenix.com) - With sophomore Sam Weber (Heartland, Wis.) and junior Chad Ebert (Kenosha, Wis.) each posting top-five finishes, the Green Bay men's golf team finished in third place for the second time in as many spring events at the Bulldog Florida Invitational hosted by Butler at Windsor Park Golf Course in Jacksonville.
The host Bulldogs won the event with a 36-hole total of 587 (+11) while Eastern Illinois (589, +13) was two strokes back in second place. Green Bay improved by 12 strokes in round two to finish in third place (600, +24), three strokes clear of Bradley in the six-team field. The Phoenix shot a six-over par 294 in round two.
Weber and Ebert both carded under par second rounds to battle back after opening with identical 77s. Weber shot a two-under par 70 in round two to finish in a tie for third place while Eber tied for fifth a stroke back after shooting a one-under 71 in the second round.
Junior Cam Fuller (Sturgeon Bay, Wis.) finished in a tie for 13th after rounds of 76 and 77, freshman Tyler Schmidt (Jefferson, Wis.) had rounds of 76 and 78 to finish in 16th and sophomore Dan Ozga (Edgerton, Wis.) rebounded from an opening round 84 to card a 76 in round two and finish in a tie for 24th.
