Men's Golf Finishes Fourth at Butler Invitational
INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (GreenBayPhoenix.com) - The Green Bay men's golf team shot a final round 295 Tuesday to finish fourth at the Butler Invitational at Eagle Creek Golf Course. After opening with a 302 Monday morning to rank eighth, the Phoenix rallied back with two sub-300 rounds to finish in fourth.
Evansville claimed first place at the event with a score of 842 while IUPUI (861) and Butler (870) finished just in front of Green Bay in second and third respectively.
Green Bay's best round of the event was Monday afternoon, when senior Chris Pural (Green Bay, Wis.) fired a one-under par 70 to lead the Phoenix to a second-round 289. Pural finished 15th overall with a 54-hole total of 6-over 219.
The team's top golfer for the tournament was unable to count towards Green Bay's team total. Playing as an individual, sophomore Chad Ebert (Kenosha, Wis.) had rounds of 71, 69 and 70 to finish in third place at 3-under 210. Ebert was second in the field with 13 birdies and posted a score of 5-under on the par-5s.
Also playing as an individual, sophomore Lee Swan (Portage, Wis.) led the field in pars with 42 and finished in a tie for 25th (224, +11).
The rest of Green Bay's five scoring players included freshman Dan Ozga (Edgerton, Wis.), who finished tied for 20th (221, +8) after an even-par 71 Tuesday. Freshman Sam Weber (Heartland, Wis.) finished in a tie for 29th (225, +12), sophomore Cam Fuller (Sturgeon Bay, Wis.) tied for 35th (226, +123) and senior Austin Ehlenfeldt (Green Bay, Wis.) finished tied for 45th (229, +16) to round out the Phoenix scorers.
Green Bay will take three weeks off before concluding its fall season on Oct. 25-26 at the SIU-Edwardsville Invitational.
