Ozga Leads Green Bay on Day 2 of HL Championships
HOWEY-IN-THE-HILLS, Fla. (GreenBayPhoenix.com) – Senior Dan Ozga (Edgerton, Wis.) recorded bookend birdies on Saturday to lead Green Bay in round two of the 2014 Horizon League Golf Championships at Mission Inn Resort in Howey-in-the-Hills, Fla. After the second round of the 54-hole event on the 6,776-yard, par-72 El Campeon Course, the Phoenix men remained in fifth place (311-317=628).
Cleveland State (593) remained in first place and leads Detroit (599) by six shots entering Sunday’s final round. CSU’s Andrew Bailey (72-70=142) has a two-shot advantage among individuals.
Junior Tom Boockmeier (Green Bay, Wis.) is tied for 11th place after rounds of 75 and 77 to lead the Phoenix. Ozga’s bookend birdies were part of a 4-over par round of 76 which left him a shot behind Boockmeier in a tie for 13th place. Junior Joseph Collard (79-80=159, 24) and redshirt freshman Joe Du Chateau (80-84=164, 27) round out the scores for the Phoenix.
