GREEN BAY, Wis. ( – The day after winning his second-straight tournament, Green Bay junior men’s golfer Tom Boockmeier (Green Bay, Wis.) was named the Horizon League Men’s Golfer of the Week, the league office announced on Wednesday.

On Tuesday, Boockmeier trailed by four strokes entering the final round of the John Piper Intercollegiate, but used four birdies and a closing 35 on the back nine to post a one-stroke victory. After opening with a 75, Boockmeier played his final 36 holes at Bowling Green’s Stone Ridge Golf Club in 6-under par (68-70).

Last week, playing in the Green Bay Invitational at Green Bay Country Club, Boockmeier trailed by three strokes entering the final 18 holes. That day, Boockmeier carded a 2-under par 70 to rally and win the home tourney by one shot.

In his six rounds this season, Boockmeier has posted four rounds under par and has played 108 total holes in 2-under par for a scoring average of 71.7.

Boockmeier becomes the first Green Bay golfer to be named Horizon League Golfer of the Week since Austin Ehlenfeldt on April 21, 2010.
