GREEN BAY, Wis. (GreenBayPhoenix.com) –
The Green Bay women’s tennis team was dealt a 7-0 loss on Sunday afternoon at the hands of Cleveland State at Western Racquet and Fitness Club. The Phoenix dropped to 1-19 overall and 1-4 in Horizon League play with the loss, while the Vikings pulled even at 9-9 overall and improved to 3-1 the conference.

The Phoenix battled in doubles action, but the Vikings prevailed in all three matches to earn the doubles point. CSU’s Mathilde Orange and Nicole Janek earned an 8-1 win at No. 3 over Green Bay’s freshman duo of Stephanie Londre (Burlington, Wis.) and Rachael Menos (Appleton, Wis.), while the Vikings took both the No. 1 and No. 2 matches 8-4.

The Vikings went on to win each of the six singles contests, all of them in straight sets. Green Bay senior Rebecca Nelson (Brookfield, Wis.) had a strong start in her No. 4 match against CSU’s Maria Lazaris, but ended up falling 6-4 in the first before dropping the second set 6-1.
